"A day as a PhD"About Hana Melanova:I am a research postdoc, currently in the START-project of Harald Grobner at the University of Vienna, Austria. Besides resolution of singularities, which is the main research topic I have been working on until now, I am in general interested in geometric and combinatorial problems of computational flavour. I am very excited about my new life phase – getting a child and starting my next position as a research postdoc in the Non-Linear Algebra Group of Bernd Sturmfels at MPI MiS in Leipzig, Germany – which is starting soon and which is feasible also thanks to a huge support of both, my current and my future boss, and also my collaborators and colleagues. I wish every woman in science would get the same chance as me to combine the work as a researcher with her family. |
