"Evolution of cooperation and assortment"Martin, ÉloiEvolutionary game theory has put forward several explanations for the evolution of cooperative behavior, one of which is that cooperators will interact with other cooperators more often than non-cooperators do. This can stem from the expression of a preference for similar or related individuals as interaction partners. In this short talk, we will discuss the effect of this preference on measures of evolutionary success, such as the fixation probability. In particular, we will see that although this preference usually increases the evolutionary success of cooperators, it can have the opposite effect in some models of frequency-dependant selection. |
