"Some new applications of the duality method for cross diffusion equations"

Desvillettes, Laurent

The duality method consists in using as a multiplicator in a parabolic equation the solution of a dual problem (another parabolic equation with a final datum). It has been used with success by Pierre and Schmitt in the context of reaction diffusion systems more than twenty years ago and has since been very useful in different contexts, including the control of gelation in coagulation-fragmentation-diffusion systems. We explain in this talk how some cross diffusion systems, coming out of population dynamics or chemotaxis-like situations, can also be studied using this method.
